While not as well known as its neighbour Whistler, Sun Peaks is actually the 3rd largest ski area in Canada and offers 3,678 acres of uncrowded runs, including glades, bowls, moguls and cruisers. Its location in BC’s interior makes for consistently good powder conditions and the convenient layout of the resort, together with a ski-through village, slopeside accommodation and a host of off-mountain activities makes it an ideal holiday destination for families.
Other Facilities
Sun Peaks Resort offers a host of activities including dog sledding, sleigh rides, tubing, snowshoeing, ice skating, tobogganing, snowmobiling, bungee trampoline, groomer rides, and Nordic skiing. There is a sports centre with an outdoor heated pool and hot tub and the village offers a good selection of shops, restaurants and cafés plus a spa, fitness centre, grocery store and organic market.
Facilities for Children
The Snow Sports School offers ski instruction programs for kids 3 to 12 yrs of age. After a day on the slopes, kids can go to “The Hangout” to play X-Box and watch HDTV and movies. The child minding centre offers child care for children aged 18 mths to 5 yrs. The resort also arranges regular family activities such as Family Fun Night (Tues), Marshmallow Snowshoe Tours (Mon & Sat) and Friday Race Series.
