Responsible Tourism

Responsible Tourism benefits the tourists, their holiday hosts and also the environment. In the office, we have introduced the following policy that we will strictly adhere to and we also have some suggestions on how you can help.

Erna Low is committed to using fewer natural resources and we are therefore planning to offer sending our invoices and final tickets by PDF wherever possible. Please let us know at the time of booking if you are unable to receive information this way.

REDUCE YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT
In line with our commitment to Responsible Tourism we will at the time of booking, add a small charge as per the table below to the cost of your booking which will go towards funding carbon reduction programmes aiming to offset carbon dioxide emissions. You are however entitled to opt out of paying this charge – please advise our reservation staff at the time of booking.

TICOS is an industry wide programme supported by international agencies such as UNESCO and tourism industry bodies to stimulate collective action by tour operators and travel agents selling holidays which include travel. Revenue raised from the service will fund projects where there is a real additional and measurable carbon saving and wider social benefits which favour the environment.

GREEN TRANSPORT PLAN
Last year, Erna Low joined the Government’s Green Transport plan, whereby we fund the purchase of a bicycle for our employees, thereby encouraging them to reduce their environmental footprint whilst making savings on their purchase. Please let us know if you have any ideas we can incorporate in to our Responsible Tourism policy.
