Valmeinier enjoys excellent access being just 17 km from the motorway in the Maurienne Valley.  The resort has a friendly atmosphere and is ideal for families who may not wish to spend a fortune staying in a better known resort.  Additionally, it is only 30 minutes drive from the Orelle gondola which links the Maurienne Valley to Val Thorens.

Facilities for Children

A child minding service “Galipette 1” offered by Valmeinier for children from 3 months to 3 years old.  “Galipette 2” nursery caters for children from 3 to 9 years included.  Open Sunday – Friday, it is located next to the slopes and has a link with the ski school. "Valmeinier as a resort was new to us but the skiing was great, lovely blues and reds and efficient lift system in the main. Plenty of pistes to explore over on the Valloire side too. Resort was family friendly and if you avoid the main bars at the foot of the pistes, there were good restaurants to be found. Also a bowling alley, great for non skiing time."
