Eurotunnel Travel Information
Eurotunnel offers departures up to 3 times an hour during peak periods and operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Please note that the service may be restricted over the New Year period and we advise you to book early for peak periods. The crossing is from Folkestone to Calais/Coquelles and takes just 35 minutes.
At the time of booking, or as soon as possible please inform us of your preferred crossing dates and times, as well as your vehicle height (under or over 1.85m) and we will book you on the nearest available shuttle. Please ensure you request a high space if your car is over 1.85m high or if you have a roof box which makes your vehicle close to 1.85m. If you require a high space we suggest you request your times as early as possible, as these spaces get booked up quickly.
Eurotunnel kindly request that all customers respect their check-in times to ensure your reserved departure is met on both the outbound and inbound journey. Eurotunnel recommend a check-in time of at least 30 minutes before departure but no more than 2 hours before this time. To take advantage of the shopping available in both Folkestone and Calais Passenger Terminal buildings please allow extra time for check-in.
If the crossing has been included in your holiday price it is for a vehicle for up to 8 passengers including driver. A supplement will apply for vehicles carrying 9 passengers or more and for campervans, minibuses, trailers or caravans. Please call us for further information and prices.

Immensely popular over the last two seasons and continuing for 08/09, Erna Low are pleased to offer a free FlexiPlus upgrade to every client travelling with Eurotunnel. This offer is valid for car/van vehicle categories under and over 1.85m in height. It offers priority boarding onto the next available departure and allows all customers express check-in through a dedicated check-in lane. Vehicles under 1.85m in height have access to the exclusive FlexiPlus lounge facilities between the hours of 06h00 and 22h00, offering a complimentary light meal, non alcoholic beverages, complimentary newspaper and a small tax free shop.
Please note that for vehicles over 1.85m high use of the FlexiPlus lounge is prohibited due to safety reasons caused by the location of the high space lanes. Eurotunnel welcomes you to use the passenger terminal, situated before the border controls.
NB Flexi-plus upgrade is not available to minibuses, campervans, or cars towing a trailer or caravan.
Please note that regretably vehicles fitted with LPG or CNG tanks cannot be accepted for transport by Eurotunnel.
Eurotunnel operate ticketless travel, therefore to check-in, you will require your 8 digit Eurotunnel reference number which will be shown on your Erna Low confirmation invoice. Please quote this number either at the automated self-check-in lanes (by typing your 8 digit reference number) or manual check-in lanes (by quoting the number to the Eurotunnel staff). To avoid confusion please note the Eurotunnel 8 digit reference number is different from your Erna Low holiday booking reference number.
Please note: We are happy to try and change your self drive crossing without our administration fee one time one time once you have booked (subject to availability) but we do reserve the right to ask you to cover any additional costs given by the travel provider. If you wish to change more then once, we will charge an administration fee to cover our costs.
