Ski Holidays in Austria

Imagine beautiful picture perfect Alpine villages and you may well have an image of an Austrian ski resort in mind. Whilst the average resort altitude might be slightly lower than in neighbouring France, the snow conditions are generally excellent and their après-ski is legendary.

Austria’s famous “Gemütlichkeit” hospitality concept revolves around the idea of feeding guests well and entertaining them well during the day and the evening. For the young at heart, the après-ski party usually starts well before the lifts close and often involves dancing on tables whilst sampling some local beer or other speciality beverage.

Others are drawn to Austria because of its family orientation. Many learned to ski there and return as the accommodation is usually of a high standard. Many hotels have been run by the same family for decades and offer a genuinely warm welcome where returning guests are treated as old friends. Many of the resorts are equally popular in the summer and are therefore thriving communities throughout the year.

If you're considering ski holidays in Austria, the most famous Austrian resorts are St. AntonLechKitzbühel, and Ischgl.
