Folgarido is a peaceful, family-friendly ski resort located in the Campiglio Dolomiti di Brenta ski area, which is part of the Dolomites but not under the Dolomiti Superski area. Set in a huge pine forest, Folgarida is a beautiful, purpose-built ski resort that is perfect for all visiting demographics especially families thanks to its small, friendly atmosphere and its abundance of family-friendly activities both on and off the slopes as well as in the resort. It is also a great holiday destination for skiers, snowboarders, freestylers and all winter sports enthusiasts owing to its fantastic snow-sure pistes and modern, fantastic lift system.
As part of the Campiglio Dolomiti di Brenta ski area, at Folgarida, you have access to 150 kilometres of daily groomed pistes across the area. It also has very easy access to the elegant Madonna di Campiglio, a well-known ski area in the region and part of the Campiglio Dolomiti di Brenta ski area. With access to the entire ski area and its efficient lift system, you can enjoy all 108 different runs on varying altitudes between 850 metres to over 2,500 metres.
Despite its development as a purpose-built ski resort, Folgarida still has bags of cultural character to it. Its location is great because it benefits from the stunning Alpine scenery within the pines. Its buildings were also designed in authentic Alpine style which further enhance the atmosphere in the resort. You can also feel the charm in the evenings, with events often taking place at the “Alla sosta dell’Imperatore" congress centre which feature local plays and cultural events from time to time. From the resort, you can also admire the panoramic views of the Dolomites or the rolling landscape of the Val di Sole valley.
Folgarida is truly a skiers paradise. It's fantastic connection and links to the neighbouring Madonna di Campiglio, Marilleva and other parts of the Campiglio ski area make it very easy to access all 150 kilometres of slopes and the snow parks across the area. The slopes across the ski area are also very well maintained on an almost daily basis. We have listed a few pointers for visiting skiers below.
For beginners, get the gondola from the resort centre and get off at the mid-station as the slopes are nice and gentle there. Beginners can also find several easy blues around the Monte Spolverino nursery slopes. There are also gentle blues that cut through the wooded areas leading back to the resort base that is perfect for beginners looking to gain some confidence.
With the runs just above the resort mostly blues, intermediate skiers looking for challenge and variety can take advantage of the ski pass and head over to Madonna di Campiglio to access its numerous reds.
Expert and well-seasoned skiers should head over to the black run that takes you to Marilleva; it's a very steep slope but the snow there is always fantastic. There are several off-piste opportunities across the ski area; some of which can be found on the off-piste itinerary around the back of Monte Spinale. Additional black runs in the area worth trying are the steep Nera Folgarida at 1,850 which is accessible via the Belvedere gondola as well as the Nera Marilleva at 1,800 metres.
Folgaridas links to the rest of the Campiglio ski area will be splendid news for most advanced snowboarders and there aren't too many challenging runs for them at the resort.
Beginners, however, will find Folgarida to be ideal with a wide selection of multiple gentle slopes to practise on, including its nursery areas. Most of the terrain is perfect for beginners with gentle runs to grow confidence on.
