Skiing in Les Saisies
Les Saisies is an incredibly charming village that has remained relatively unspoilt over the years and therefore comes as no surprise that it is regarded as one of Frances's most natural ski resorts. It has also been given the monicker “ French Tyrol” by some for its gorgeous landscapes and 360-degree breathtaking views of the surrounding Mont Blanc, Beaufortain and Aravis mountains.
The skiing experience in Les Saisies is nothing short of fantastic. Located at a resort height of 1,650 metres altitude, Les Saisies slopes climb up to modest 2,069 metres, however, thanks to a unique and favourable Savoie micro-climate, the resort receives a much higher snow-fall volume than a lot of other resorts in the region.
It also benefits from an excellent slope management programme that has seen the resort win an award for its eco-friendly snow grooming service. This was attributed to its piste grooming, ski area preparation, snow preservation and more. It also has very good snow-making facilities that cover 40% of its local ski area.
Les Saisies' charm also makes it an excellent family-friendly destination, especially for families travelling with young children who are just learning to ski. It has excellent snow conditions and uncrowded pistes that are perfect for families. It is also one of the sunniest resorts in the area receiving sunshine on all sides of the mountain.
Don't get carried away by Les Saisies' fantastic beginner and intermediate pistes, this resort also has a very impressive snow sports history as its slopes have hosted the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics in the cross-country discipline. So if you are after fantastic pistes, awesome views, great accommodation and a charming village to visit with the family or ski buddies, Les Saisies, should certainly feature on your list of options.
