Ski Holidays in Switzerland
Many of the Swiss ski resorts are breathtakingly beautiful so it is no surprise that as far back as 1902 Sir Henry Lunn organised trips to Adelboden and Wengen. Ever since, Switzerland has been at the top of many a skier’s wish list of destinations. Imagine chocolate box style chalets and stunning scenery and add in accommodation generally of a very high standard making Switzerland a good option for those looking for something with a little more character than the large purpose built French resorts.
A great example of this is Zermatt, which is perhaps the most famous Swiss ski resort. The amazing views of the Matterhorn mean that it is as popular in summer as it in winter when it provides some of the most amazing skiing in the Alps. You can also pop over to Cervinia for lunch if you have any Euros in your wallet and marvel at the Klein Matterhorn cable car which accesses some of the highest skiing in Europe.
There has also been a lot of investment to update the lift systems, most notably in Verbier, however the rickety cog railways still exist as well to create an authentic mountain experience.
