Chalet Des Neiges Plein Sud, Val Thorens
Chalet des Neiges Plein Sud is a peaceful, slope-side hideaway in Val Thorens. With ski-in, ski-out access, a small collection of spacious apartments, and views for days, it's a calm, comfortable base in the heart of Europe's highest resort.
You'll find it's perched just above the resort centre, in the quieter Balcons area. The piste is right outside, so you can step into your skis in the morning and get going straight away. And after a day exploring the 600km of runs in the Three Valleys, you can cruise right back to your door. No bus stops, no lugging gear across town - just skiing, simplified.
With only 13 apartments, things are relaxed and low-key even in peak weeks. Inside, it's all about classic alpine style: warm wood, natural materials, and rustic charm. The apartments sleep between four and fourteen people and are ideal for families or groups who want space to spread out, cook together, and hang out after skiing without stepping on each other's toes.
Each apartment has a fully equipped kitchen with an electric oven, ceramic hob, fridge/ freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, dishwasher, filter, and Nespresso coffee machines. The living areas are made for mountain downtime - big sofas, soft lighting, and a fire to gather around when the snow starts falling again outside. Every apartment has a balcony, too, so you can start your day with a coffee and a mountain view, or end it with a glass of wine and that lovely pink evening light over the peaks.
To make your stay even smoother, a long list of thoughtful extras is included. Beds are made before you arrive, two towels per person are provided, and a cleaning kit is ready in the kitchen. End-of-stay cleaning is included (except for the kitchen), and you'll find free Wi-Fi throughout the building. There's also a free laundry room, and baby kits, with cots and high chairs available on request. Raclette and fondue machines can be borrowed from the reception to enjoy a proper Alpine dinner.
Wellness is covered, too. Plein Sud guests have access to a sauna and a small fitness room on site, open daily from late afternoon into the evening. If you fancy a proper soak or swim, you're welcome to use the larger spa area at the nearby Résidence Hermine, just a few metres away. It has an indoor pool, sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi - all included in your stay.
You'll also find a Sherpa supermarket and ski shop close by, making stocking up on supplies or sorting your equipment easy. And if you want to head into the centre of Val Thorens, it's just a short walk or a couple of minutes by ski - close enough to enjoy the bars, restaurants and après-ski scene, but far enough to get a good night's sleep
.
Chalet des Neiges Plein Sud is the kind of place that quietly gets everything right. It's easy, cosy, and just far enough from the noise to feel like a proper retreat. Whether you're here for powder, pistes, family time, or just a bit of mountain calm, this is a base that keeps things simple - and gets you out skiing faster than you can say ‘first lift’.
