Les Portes Du Soleil Ski Holidays
Les Portes du Soleil ski area comprises 12 resorts, 8 in France and 4 in Switzerland offering a huge variety of accommodation and skiing for all levels. Perhaps the most famous French resorts are Avoriaz, Morzine-Avoriaz, Les Gets and Châtel but don’t forget you can visit the charming villages of Abondance, Saint Jean d’Aulps, Montriond and La Chapelle d’Abondance. The Swiss resorts of Morgins, Torgon, Champéry and Val d’Illiez – Les Crozet – Champoussin are also well worth a visit.
There are a total of 296 slopes: 28 black, 106 red, 127 blue, 35 green all accessed by 194 mountain lifts. In addition there are 11 snowparks and 4 boardercross with 90 slopeside restaurants. All the parks feature boxes, tables, wall rides, big air jumps, raised bends, air bags and rails that riders of all levels will be more than happy with.
Feestyle fans love Avoriaz with no less than five dedicated zones for all levels and disciplines: superpipe, border-cross, variety modules and the Jake Burton-inspired snowpark, aka the Stash, which offers several routes through Les Lindarets forest and some memorable all-wood sections.
Skiing in Les Portes Du Soleil provides 3 family-friendly "Famille Plus Montagne" destinations - Châtel, Les Gets, Morzine and numerous dedicated beginners’ slopes, so there's plenty of space for first-time skiers and families. In the centre of Avoriaz, the Children's Village (Village des Enfants) looks after 3-year-olds and over in a fun setting. Annie Famose and her team have crafted an original learning programme based on role-play and games. Châtel is also a superb family destination with tobogganing,a snow play area for the whole family, an interactive winter trail and ski nursery at Pré-la-Joux.
