Southern Alps

There are a whole variety of smaller resorts with excellent snow records and a reputation for sunshine in the Southern Alps. Prices also tend to be lower as these resorts are less popular on the English market than their northern equivalents. The resorts of Vars and Risoul make up the largest ski domain in the area, the Foret Blanche, which covers 180km of pistes. Resorts such as Chamrousse and Superdevoluy are easily accessible from Grenoble airport and Isola 2000 benefits from being just 1 1/2 hrs drive from Nice with cheap flights easy to come by in the winter months.
