The resort of Whistler has 8,171 acres of terrain and over 200 trails which caters to beginners, intermediate and advanced skiers. Whistler Blackcomb offers fantastic on and off-piste skiing, five parks, one super pipe and a snow cross track. Whistler is a very popular choice for families because of how much there is to do on and off the mountain!

Obviously you will be mainly occupied exploring Whistler Blackcomb’s huge variety of skiable terrain, however there is a lot more that Whistler has to offer!

After a hard day’s skiing, you can visit the Whistler Olympic Plaza on select evenings through the winter for Family Après, an event featuring free kid-friendly activities and entertainment. Family Après is all about experiencing winter outdoor fun with your kids. Some of the great activities available include ice skating, snowman building, tobogganing and mini hockey. There are also competitions, live music, story-telling, snacks, hot beverages and more!

If you fancy taking a day off from skiing to see what family friendly activities Whistler has to offer during the day, there are plenty of things to do that don’t require you to have skis on your feet! Whistler has its own indoor climbing facility located at “Whistler Core Fitness”. It’s available all year round and is perfect for everyone from complete beginners to advanced climbers. There are courses you can take, as well as kid-friendly evening programs.

Eagle viewing float tours run throughout the winter to allow you to view the eagles in their winter habitat. The tours take place in Brakendale, just 30 minutes south of Whistler. This is a great activity if you fancy being outside but want a break from skiing!

At the Whistler Sliding Centre there is the bobsleigh and skeleton experience, where you can experience sliding down the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games bobsleigh, and skeleton tracks yourself. You are also able to do a self-guided tour of the facility at your own pace if you don’t want to test the Olympic tracks!

Another great activity to do with the family in Whistler are the Ziptrek Ecotours. These run throughout the year and include a choice of 3 guided zipline tours as well as magnificent tree top adventures, offering a fantastic combination of high-wire adventure and ecological exploration.

If you want to get away from the kids for a bit, ski school is a great way to keep your kids entertained while you go off and explore what Whistler has to offer. Or if your kids are a bit too young to ski there are plenty of day-care services available with childcare staff who are all trained in first aid and absolutely love kids!

If your kids are a bit older there are plenty of things for teenagers to do in Whistler. For example “The Sk8 Cave”, Whistler’s only indoor public skate ramp, offers lessons for all skill levels so you will be able to learn even if you’re new to the sport!

“Whistler Bounce” is an indoor trampoline park with padded walls, a foam pit, and instructors ready to teach you how to bounce, flip and twist like a pro. If freestyle skiing is your cup of tea this is a great way to practice big air tricks, or you can just go to have fun!
