Originally Nordic skiing (as the name suggests) was developed in Scandinavia as a way of travelling from A to B and primarily for hunting. The skis are different in cross country – typically they are longer, narrower and more light than Alpine skis. The trails have tracks or grooves built into them for you to follow, making it fairly straightforward to use.
