Le Chamois d'Or, Val Thorens
Le Chamois d'Or is a relaxed, ski-in/ski-out residence in the heart of Val Thorens. It's the perfect base for exploring the Three Valleys, with cosy apartments, mountain views, and shops right outside. It's simple, comfortable, and well located for everything the highest European resort offers
Val Thorens sits at 2,300m, so snow reliability is about as good as it gets. You're also plugged into the vast Three Valleys ski area, with over 600km of pistes to explore. There's something for every level, from gentle blues to steep reds and powder-filled bowls. Best of all, you can ski straight from the residence. Just clip in and go. Beginners will love the local nursery slopes, while more experienced skiers can chase fresh tracks across Méribel and Courchevel thanks to the fast, well-connected lift system.
The residence is all about comfort and practicality. Nothing flashy, but it does the job well. Apartments range from compact studios to spacious four-room setups that sleep up to six. Whether you're travelling as a couple, family, or group of friends, you'll find something that fits. Each apartment has a fully equipped kitchenette, a bathroom with a bath, and a private balcony for fresh mountain air.
The interiors are functional and straightforward, with alpine touches that give the space a warm, familiar feel. You’ll find everything you need for a comfortable week in the mountains, whether you’re cooking in or just curling up after a long ski day. It’s low-fuss, no-frills accommodation that makes mountain life easy.
Inside are ski lockers with direct access to the slopes, a reception lounge, a games room, and even an on-site supermarket. Wi-Fi is available throughout, and there's a laundry room, too. It's where you can unpack once and settle in for the week, with everything you need nearby.
You've also got a brasserie and pub right downstairs, perfect for a drink or bite to eat after the lifts close. And if you fancy heading out, the rest of Val Thorens is on your doorstep. From Savoyard fondue spots to casual burger joints, the resort has plenty of choices when it comes to dining.
The building does not have a spa, but guests can buy a wellness pass for the nearby sports centre, which gives access to the swimming pool, gym, and spa. If you're driving, underground parking is available but needs to be booked in advance as spaces are limited. Linen and end-of-stay cleaning (except the kitchen) are included, with optional extras like bed-making or mid-stay cleaning available if you want more comfort.
Val Thorens itself has a brilliant mix of high-altitude energy and laid-back charm. It's compact, mostly pedestrianised, and easily accessible on foot. Après-ski here is lively without being over the top. Depending on what kind of evening you're after, you'll find a good mix of friendly pubs, buzzing bars, and cosy restaurants. Off the slopes, there's plenty to keep you busy, from tobogganing and bowling to zip-lining across the valley.
Families, groups and even first-time skiers will appreciate how stress-free everything feels here – no long walks in ski boots, no hunting for essentials. It’s all right where you need it, which makes a big difference when the snow's falling and the lifts are calling.
Le Chamois d'Or is all about location, ease, and comfort. If you want a simple, snow-sure base with everything close by, this is a solid choice that delivers where it counts.
