Chamonix Mont Blanc Overview

The area is home to the oldest known French ski resort in Chamonix as well as the host of the first-ever Winter Olympics, in 1924. It is well known for its excellent snow conditions with most of its skiable slopes above the 2,000-metre altitude mark. The area is also home to Frances's highest peak, the Mer de Glace.

The Chamonix-Mont Blanc Valley is a fantastic ski holiday destination that offers a multitude of skiing options for you and your travelling group. There are up to 157 kilometres of marked pistes and an abundance of off-piste skiing opportunities in the area and thanks to the fantastic conditions that the Mer de Glace glacier brings, parts of the area is open for all year-round skiing. The area also has an efficient network of 65 ski lifts which are brilliantly interconnected between each of the resorts in the valley.

If you get a Mont Blanc Unlimited ski pass, not only do you get to ski across the Chamonix valley, but you also get to access to neighbouring ski areas like Courmayeur across the Italian border, Verbier in Switzerland and the Evasion Mont Blanc ski area which includes the resorts of Megéve amongst others.

Ski abilities of all levels are welcome to the Chamonix-Mont Blanc ski area. Beginners have a wealth of slopes to choose from while advanced and professional snow sports athletes frequent the area very often thanks to its steep pistes and challenging ski slopes. Freeriders, freestylers and snowboarders should check out the terrain park at Chamonix but also look out for the natural gullies and half-pipes in the Chamonix Valley.
