Chalet 1597

A truly amazing chalet in the Lech resort area of Austria, Chalet 1957 is located less than a kilometre from the resort centre as well as from the pistes and lifts. A refurbished guest house, it has come a long way from its dated construction date of 1597. It is a very modern and contemporary chalet that is split over 3 floors. It sleeps up to 12 guests in its 5 bedrooms which all come en suite. The living spaces within the chalet have been finished to very high standards featuring sleek stone finishes as well as the traditional wood interior to exude the alpine charm throughout the chalet; with most of the interior featuring elaborately decorated wood floors, walls and ceilings. The best way to describe the atmosphere inside of Chalet 1597 is a cosy and deluxe atmosphere. Each of the 5 bedrooms is large doubles that feature either twin or double beds which depend on the request of the guest. The ensuite bathrooms are very spacious with large baths and sinks. The master bedroom, however, is a suite and has its own lounge, drawing room and huge bath. Chalet 1597 has incredible facilities for pure luxury. There is a wine cellar and tasting room perfect for pre-apres-ski drinks. A large and cosy dedicated cinema room with plush sofas to sink into on an evening after a delicious supper at the 14 seater dining table. The kitchen is fully equipped with all utensils for self-catering however, private catering can be arranged on request. There is a large sauna and steam room as well as an outdoor hot tub to relax in when it is mild enough. All balconies in Chalet 1597 are south facing and as such make for a great sunset spot and amazing views of the resort and surrounding mountains. There is a private ski storage room and locker complete with boot warmers to keep your boots crisp in the morning. There is a laundry with a washing machine and dryer.

Overall, this is the ideal destination for a group of friends looking for a luxury ski trip in the Austrian alps, albeit at a very reasonable price. Certainly, one for the shortlist if you are a large group of friends or extended family looking to experience Austria chalet holidays.

Ski Apartments In Austria

Ski apartments in Austria are becoming increasingly a favourable option for the flexibility that they offer, amongst other things. This is quite impressive as ski apartments were quite a limited option not too long ago, however, apartments are steadily increasing in numbers, guest size options and variations in Austria. There is a growing trend of elegant serviced apartments designed to offer a luxurious experience within the resorts. For visiting guests who are looking for the flexibility of self-catering and privacy of space for themselves and their families or friends, apartments are a great option. Not only do you get the standard living spaces but there are other inclusions such as storage and outside private space that one may not get from a hotel. With the recent conversion of old guest houses into ski holiday apartments and chalets, there is an increase in facilities offered such as pools and saunas, fitness facilities and even playrooms and play areas (some outdoor) for toddlers and young children. Gurglhof Apartments, Obergurgl

Located only a 5-minute walk from the lifts in the resort centre and less than 3 minutes walk in either direction to the closest grocery store and bus stops, Gurglhof Apartments in Obergurgl ski village is a modern apartment rental that is perfect for skiers. There are studios and apartments. Recently refurbished, the Gurglhof Apartments makeover has added to its sleek yet modest look and warm welcoming atmosphere. The apartments can sleep any number from 2 to up to 8 guests at a single time. The bedrooms are all double bedroom sizes and can have either a double bed or twin beds. The rooms all have balconies that open up to dreamy views of the resort and the backdrop of the mountains. The bedrooms also come with bathrobes, towels and end of stay cleaning. The apartments are self-catering and all have fully equipped kitchens with dishwasher, fridge/freezer, coffee maker and cooking hobs and utensils. The apartment living areas are spacious and include a sitting room and kitchen area with a dining table and chairs just next to it. The apartments are all very well decorated with modern fittings and furniture.

The building also has leisure and lounge facilities. There is a lovely and welcoming bar and lounge for relaxing and perhaps a starting point for an eventful apres ski evening. It is a lovely atmosphere complete with a fireplace to add to the alpine charm of the lounge. If you prefer another form of relaxation, there is also a sauna and steam room to calm the muscles and relax the nerves after the adrenaline rush on the slopes.

Gurglhof Apartments are all self-catering however, it is possible to arrange local and private chefs and catering for your visit to Obergurgl.

Hahnenkamm Lodge, Kitzbuhel

Hahnenkamm Lodge is a near-perfect holiday accommodation destination for visitors to Kitzbuhel ski village. It is essentially a chalet styled apartment but can easily pass or be identified as either. It sleeps between 12 and 14 guests and is a ski in ski out apartment lodge. Proximity to the fun and slopes is a non-issue as not only is Hahnenkamm Lodge a ski-in and ski-out lodge, it is located only mere meters away from the pistes and grants direct access to the Streif slope. It is also approximately 100 meters away from the cable car station at Kitzbuhel. However, it is located at 1645m altitude. But while that might temporarily scare you, just imagine the stunning views from the terrace (which also has an outdoor fireplace and blankets).

Seamlessly blending the alpine luxury and apartment lodgings has resulted in an amazing ski holiday destination in Hahnenkamm Lodge. The lodge has 3 deluxe suites, one standard bedroom and one master suite; all en suite. All bedrooms have a flat-screen satellite TV, telephone, fridge and wifi (throughout the lodge). The deluxe suites all have a double bed and extra living space, sofa bed and bath and shower and all have balconies or a terrace. The Master Suite has a terrace and also includes a fireplace, desk area and Sonos sound system.

Interestingly and perhaps very rare with apartments or chalet-style apartments, Hahnenkamm Lodge is also designed to host a private conference complete for 14 participants. It has projectors, a screen, laser point pens and all you need for a successful presentation. It is the perfect location for a work retreat.

The apartment lodge also comes complete with a spa and sauna and steam room for the perfect unwind. There is a ski storage room and lockers for ski equipment. There is a bar that is serviced and comes with complimentary drinks (cocktails, aperitifs, etc). This accommodation most certainly deserves a look in if luxury is your forte.

Hotel Saalbacherhof is an amazing 4-star hotel that has been run by the local Dschulnigg family for generations in Saalbach. It is fantastically located in the resort centre and within close proximity to the lifts and pistes in the Saalbach ski resort. It is one of the best options for guests looking for hotel accommodation as it ticks just about every box. There are a total of 90 rooms in the hotel all of which are en suite. All rooms are spacious and very well decorated to a modern finish. All the rooms also have cable TV, radio, safe, telephone and wifi access. Hotel Saalbacherhof has great facilities which include a leisure centre complete with a spa, sauna, jacuzzi and indoor pool to relax and unwind after an eventful day up and down the slopes at the ski resort. On request, you can treat yourself to a number of massage treatments as well. There is also a completely separate spa area and outdoor pool located on the roof of the hotel which offers another place for well-deserved relaxation and some self-indulgence. There is an amazing haute-cuisine to be enjoyed in the resident Five Element restaurant at Hotel Saalbacherhof which features traditional Austrian cuisine as well as other international recipes. Saving probably the best for last, Hotel Saalbacherhof is home to one of the largest and most popular bars and nightclubs in Saalbach known as Castello. It features a huge dance floor and stage and has a total of 36 speakers. It is an apres-ski hotspot and one of the liveliest places to be in Saalbach resort.
