Livigni offers up to 115 kilometres of snow sure, high altitude pistes located between 1,815 and 2,797 metres across the two main ski areas of Costaccia-Carosello 3000 and Mottolino; both areas aren’t interlinked but the shuttle service runs between both. Perfect for beginner and intermediate level skiers, Livigno offers a slightly less expensive ski holiday with excellent snow and ski conditions no different from some of the glamorous ski resorts in neighbouring Switzerland or Austria. It has excellent accommodation options, a very efficient ski lift system and a very lively apres-ski scene. In addition, Livigno is located in a duty-free enclave which also makes it a shopping paradise thanks to the savings visitors can make on top quality goods. Livigno’s ski area comprises two mountain ranges: Carosello 3000 and Mottolino – both of which offer an adventure-filled environment for skiers of all levels and abilities. With a base altitude of 1,816m and a summit that reaches above the clouds at 2,798m, this resort is a snow-sure haven from late November to early May. The 115km of skiable terrain is a playground for all levels, as beginners can cruise down easier confidence-building blue runs, while intermediates can carve their way through a network of red runs that wind through the mountains.

For the daredevils among you, the black runs on Mottolino are where legends are made. They’re steep, challenging and packed with moguls that’ll really test your mettle (and provide a challenging workout for even the strongest thighs!). The resort is served by 32 lifts, including speedy gondolas and high-speed chairs, which means you’ll spend less time waiting around to get to the slopes and more time concentrating on the snow! Should the season be unseasonably warm, you’ll still have access to excellent skiing thanks to a state-of-the-art snowmaking system covering 78% of the pistes.
