Livigno Ski Resort
Sitting at an impressive 1,815 metres altitude in Italy’s Alta Valtellina ski area, Livigno ski resort ranks among one of Italy’s highest resorts with only a few sitting at higher altitudes, hence it is no surprise that it is locally dubbed ‘Piccolo Tibet’ (which translates into Little Tibet) thanks to its lofty heights. Nestled in a quiet valley across the border from St Moritz in Switzerland, Livigno is a vibrant ski resort that posses as a fantastic option for a ski resort getaway. The three hamlets of Santa Maria, San Antonio, and San Rocco combine to form the ski village of Livigno and whichever of these hamlets you choose to stay in, the slopes are never too far away with the majority of the accommodation ski in and ski out. If you happen to be situated not too close to any of the lifts, you can always catch the village shuttle service. Livigni offers up to 115 kilometres of snow sure, high altitude pistes located between 1,815 and 2,797 metres across the two main ski areas of Costaccia-Carosello 3000 and Mottolino; both areas aren’t interlinked but the shuttle service runs between both. Perfect for beginner and intermediate level skiers, Livigno offers a slightly less expensive ski holiday with excellent snow and ski conditions no different from some of the glamorous ski resorts in neighbouring Switzerland or Austria. It has excellent accommodation options, a very efficient ski lift system and a very lively apres-ski scene. In addition, Livigno is located in a duty-free enclave which also makes it a shopping paradise thanks to the savings visitors can make on top quality goods. Just under a 3-hour transfer from Innsbruck, a Livigno ski holiday can be an excellent choice when searching for a quality, high altitude ski resort.

The resort sits in between a valley with the ski slopes Mottolino and Carosello 3000, on either side of the valley. Both areas are generally covered with long reds with Carosello also being home to a number of blues and the nursery areas for beginners as well. Skiing takes place between 1815 and 2797 metres.
The skiing experience in Livigno is suitable to pretty much all levels of skiers. Although beginners and intermediates have the lion share of the runs here, expert and advanced skiers still get a good number of testing runs to explore.
The west side of the valley around San Antonio is where beginners can find the main ski school meeting area as well as gentle beginner slopes. Further beginner slopes can be located on the southern side of the slopes around San Rocco and close to the Carosello gondola terminal. Confident beginners can also attempt some of the long red descents which run down the Costaccia-Carosello 3000 for a bit of a challenge.
With both ski areas dominated by long, open reds, intermediates visiting Livigno are spoiled for choice. A few steep reds start off at the summit of Costaccia-Carosello 3000 and run all the way down to the base at San Rocco. There is also a north facing run from the summit of Monte Della Neve that runs down to the base at Teola. Advanced skiers looking for a thrill should also start off from the Monte Della Neve where they can find two black runs down the side of the valley, starting at 2,785 metres. There are also several fantastic off-piste opportunities to explore at Livigno.
Livigno is one of Europe's top snowboard destinations. Its excellent altitude, snow conditions, and long wide open descents are perfect for free riders. In addition, it has 3 ve excellent snowparks all located at different heights and all with modern, high quality facilities and obstacles. The snowpark based at Mottolino is the largest among all three and it is fully equipped with two halfpipes, rails and boxes, as well as some fantastic kickers and jumps. It has also played host to international snowboard competitions in the past as well serving as a training camp for Team GB’s Park & Pipe Freestyle team before the 2018 Winter Olympics. It is also on course to the 2026 freestyle and snowboard challenges in the Cortina Winter Olympics.

Kosmo
Located at the foot of the Mottolino slopes, Kosmo is very hard to miss. It has a large outdoor terrace that gets very busy at the apres-ski kick off around 4 pm; it's also perfect for catching the sunset and ushering in nightfall with drinks flowing and the DJ sets setting the tone. Known for themed parties and lively events, it has a fantastic party atmosphere. It is also known for its very delicious menu, serving tasty pub meals all day including pizza, burgers and Tex-Mex. A great place to start off your apres ski evening.
Bivio Club
Check out the brand new Bivio Club located in the Bivio Hotel in the heart of Livigno. It is the ideal perfect place to enjoy a stylish apres ski evening offering everything from early aperitifs and buffets to funky partying from 9 pm when the DJ kicks starts the real party. The Bivio club lounge features a mix of a contemporary and Alpine design with image stone and wood fittings and attractive neon lights. It is one of the best places to enjoy delicately made cocktails, wines and champagne. It is also known to host special guests as well as special themed evenings.
Alegra
The Hotel Alegra has a fantastic Alpine bar that comes alive every day from 4 pm. It has a large heated terrace that functions as a dancefloor as it's one of Livigno's favourite dance destinations on an apres-ski evening. The DJ sets feature everything from cheesy pop classics to funk on any given night. If you are perhaps looking for a calmer evening, the Alpine Bar in the Hotel offers a mellow option to the Apres-ski bar. With a warm fireplace in the Alpine Bar, you can relax with a beer, wine and some cold cut meat and enjoy a conversation with friends if you are not up for a long night of dancing and music.
Tagliede
Tagliede is one of Livigno's historic bars. Easy to locate at the foot of the Livigno-Centro cable car, its position is perfect for skiers coming off the slopes. More restaurant-bar than the other apres-ski dance bars in Livigno, Tagliede is ideal for skiers who are after a more chilled evening with some drinks, food and conversation. It's also a great place to have your dinner and your first drinks before heading out to other bars later in the evening. As well as the charming interior, Tagliede also has a partly heated and covered terrace for skiers looking to take in the sun on a clear day. It's not all food and drinks here as occasionally, there are Apres-ski discos organised at Tagliede as they love to get in on the apres-ski fun every now and then.
Miky's Disco Club
A must-visit, Miky's Disco Club is one of Livigno's most unique hang out spots. Centrally located, this old barn was refurbished and transformed into a pub, bar, disco and cafe in the early 2000s and has been rocking ever since. You can walk down the stairs or slide into the bar on its copper slide, which proves to be the favoured mode of entry. It has a fantastic ambience with its old wooden features serving as a throwback to the building's origins. The atmosphere here is fantastic, thanks to the lively DJ sets, bright bar and wide drinks selection on the menu. There is a large open space between the bar and seating area which is filled with dancing people as the night carries on. It also has a cosy corner with a charming fireplace in a large stone wall. Just another one of Livignos awesome party spots.
Just like the pistes and snow conditions on the slopes, the facilities in Livigno are excellent. The resort is very well equipped with brilliant accommodation, a modern lift system, piste maintenance services and a collection of shops, cafes and restaurants.
Livigno is a great destination to visit with the family and the children will particularly have a swell time there. The resort has the ideal environment for children; offering a great deal of entertainment both on the piste and off it. It also has facilities and services which are tailored to children's basic needs and requirements all through the season.
