Pas de la Casa Ski Holidays

Known for its reliable snowfall and varied terrain, this resort is a magnet for winter sports enthusiasts looking for a blend of adventure and accessibility.

Nestled close to the French border in north-east Andorra, Pas de la Casa has a lofty resort altitude of 2100m.

Those in the know refer to it as ‘Pas’ and it’s the most popular resort in the Grandvalira ski area, with a reputation for high-octane apres-ski and skiing available up to 2640m. This powdery, snow-sure playground is also car-free, which is fab for family groups, and conditions on- and off-piste are excellent right through to the end of the season in April.

There’s 210km of pistes in the wider Grandvalira area and a huge network of routes with plenty of blue and red runs for intermediates, a smattering of more challenging blacks for advanced skiers and three terrific snowparks that snowboarders and freestyle skiers love.

If you’re a value-focused snowsports enthusiast, lift passes are free for children aged five years and under and mature adults over 70 years at Pas de la Casa, while you’ll also find the equivalent to duty-free prices on everything from high-end electronics to ski equipment and designer couture.

There are cheap but quality cafes, bars and restaurants aplenty in Pas and the apres is second to none, so it’s perpetually popular with young skiers, but facilities and amenities in recent years have improved in order to provide it with a more rounded appeal to all sorts of skiers and snowboarders. Accommodation in Pas de la Casa is comfy and practical, with easy access to the slopes and all the mod cons.

Off-slope activities here include husky dog sledding, snowmobiling and ice skating, while the principality’s capital Andorra La Vella is 28km away and you can drive there in 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic. There are lots of historic buildings, statues and sculptures to see, as well as much more low-tax shopping ̶ bag a few bargain presents before you go home.

If your priorities are low-cost, high-altitude skiing combined with world-class apres-ski and retail therapy opportunities, a Pas de la Casa ski holiday ticks every box ̶ book your customised break with Erna Low and get ready to hit the slopes in Andorra!

Pas de la Casa sits at a lofty base elevation of 2,100m, making it one of the highest ski resorts in the Pyrenees, with its top skiable point reaching 2,640m. The resort offers around 100 slopes, with roughly half of them suited for beginners and intermediates (green and blue runs), others catering to intermediate skiers on red runs, and some challenging advanced skiers on black runs. An extensive lift network of over 30 lifts in the Pas de la Casa sector ensures smooth access across the slopes and helps keep queue times to a minimum, letting visitors spend more time skiing and less time waiting.

Snow conditions in Pas de la Casa

Thanks to its high-altitude location, Pas de la Casa enjoys fairly reliable snow cover throughout the season, though in recent years the coverage has been best between January and March. The resort benefits from substantial snowfall and good powder potential, though its open, treeless terrain can leave slopes exposed to wind and reduced visibility during storms. To maintain excellent skiing conditions, the Grandvalira area has extensive snowmaking capabilities, with most of the slopes covered by snow cannons, ensuring well-groomed pistes even when natural snow is light.
