Overview of Kitzbühel
It is considered one of the best ski areas in Austria with 145 miles of slopes and a state-of-the-art lift system. The KitzSki ski area provides 233 km of well-tended ski slopes and 41 km of ski routes. The resort is also famous for the world-famous Hahnenkamm Streif racecourse which is the highlight of the skiing calendar and attracts thousands of spectators each year. The resort also has 170km of pistes which are largely easy blues and intermediate reds. There are also a good number of black runs and up to 32km of marked off-piste routes.
Away from the slopes, Kitzbuhel is a beautiful town with some lovely places to eat and drink. Once an old mining village that dates back to the 14th century, the village still maintains some of its charismatic medieval buildings in its car-free centre. Kitzbuhel is also popular for its high-end status; aptly nicknamed “Glitzy Kitz”, there is a great selection of luxurious chalets, high-end shops, and glamorous nightlife.
