Silvretta Arena Ski Ischgl/Samnaun Overview
Silvretta Arena ski area stretches across the Patznaun valley in Austria , surrounding Ischgl and the ski resort of Samnaun across the border in Switzerland. A splendid ski area that covers up to 238 kilometres of pistes which range from 1,377 metres to 2,872 metres altitude, the Silvretta Arena is repeatedly considered among the top 10 ski areas in Europe almost every year. Its prestigious reputation was not formed in a vacuum; the Silvretta Arena is indeed one of the most sought after ski destinations in Austria thanks to its guaranteed snow, seemingly never-ending slopes, ultra-modern lifts and the variety of non-ski activities and entertainment. The skiing experience in the Silvretta Arena is excellent with more than enough slopes to cater to just about all skills and ability levels. The ski season starts in December and lasts until April with the pistes receiving daily grooming at the end of each day. The pistes are also armed with 1,100 cannons of snowmaking facilities to supplement any shortages. Ischgl is the main resort located in the ski area as it is significantly bigger and more popular than its “hidden gem” neighbour across the border. It has international acclaim as the “lifestyle metropolis” of the Austrian Alps. It welcomes all types from winter sports athletes to top celebrities. Ischgl also is the host of the Top of the Mountain Concerts which usually takes place at the end of the season and features some of the worlds top musicians performing live! An incredibly diverse ski area, the Silvretta Arena welcomes all types of skiers and holiday makers. There is a variety of hotel accommodation at the Silvretta Arena most of which have customised packages to suit the different travelling groups especially families with small children. Non-ski activities include horse-drawn carriages, dog sledge rides and a large selection of top-quality spas and wellness centres.
