Ski amadé

The Ski amadé is not only Austria’s biggest ski area but also one of the largest interconnected ski areas in the world with 760 kilometres of slopes combined across the 5 ski regions of Salzburger Sportwelt, Schladming-Dachstein, Gastein, Hochkönig and Großarltal. This ski area is ski mountaineers' dream destination that offers several fantastic ski opportunities for all ski ability levels from beginners to advanced skiers. Beginners have 275 kilometres of marked blue pistes, intermediates have 390 kilometres of reds and advanced skiers have up to 95 kilometres of blacks with several kilometres of off-piste, unmarked slopes. The area is serviced by an elaborate network of up to 270 ski lifts. There are also 10 snow parks for freestylers and up to 13 family-fun slopes if you are visiting with the kids.

This ski area is not praised enough for its diverse offerings as it has something special for just about every profile of skier across the Alps. A previous host of the Alpine World Ski Championships in 2013, professional snowsport athletes and ski enthusiasts can look forward to fantastic events such as the Schladming "Night race", the Snowboard World Cup in Gastein. There is also the Ladies' Alpine World Cup which takes place on the Hauser Kaibling. Snowsport fanatics arent the only ones with something to look forward to in the Ski amadé region as families in search of gentle, slow-paced ski areas suitable for holidaying with their young children will also find the area to be perfect; thanks to the Salzburger Sportwelt region providing up to 6 adventure play mountains for the kids to have lots of fun on. Additional attractions include reaching the summit of the Dachstein glacier at 2700 metres altitude via the Panoram gondola. Check out the Skywalk, the Ice Palace and the Stairway to Nothingness at the glacier as well; a walk on a 100-metre long suspension bridge. The accommodation choices are absolutely brilliant with some of the best spa villages found in the region.
