Olympiaregion Seefeld in Austria was created in 2003 after merging the resorts of Gschwandtkopf/Seefeld/Seewald/Hinterfeld, Hochmoos and Rosshütte ski resort. Since its inception, it has played host to both Olympic and world cup ski competitions. The ski area also includes Leutasch, Reith bei Seefeld, Scharnitz, Mösern and Buchen. The Olympiaregion Seefeld is famous for its varying slopes across the different ski resorts and in particular its long sunshine hours. A well-known destination for professional athletes and snowsport enthusiasts all season, the Olympiaregion Seefeld despite its brief official history and inception is very well steeped in snowsports fame.

It’s not just all about skiing and snow sports at the Olympiaregion Seefeld, it is also an ideal family-friendly ski retreat with very children and beginner-friendly ski areas, sun-drenched slopes with awesome scenery and a wide selection of non-ski activities. Kids and families are best situated in the resort of Leutasch which offers up to 10 kilometres of well-groomed slopes which range between 1,100 and 1,360 metres altitude. When not skiing, take the kids tobogganing or go on a ride on the mountain railway for fantastic views. Kids also find a ski haven at Birkenlift and Geigenbühel ski areas with Birkys’ wonderland a massive hit among visiting kids.

The Rosshütte ski area is one of the highest situated ski areas in the Olympia Seefeld at 2,064 metres altitude. With up to 20 kilometres of pistes including a snow park with great kicks for freestylers and a wealth of off-piste opportunities, the Rosshütte ski area is a pull for the thrill-seeking visitors in the region. Gschwandtkopf Seefeld is perhaps, the regions most scenic ski resort in the region.
