La Clusaz Ski Passes

La Clusaz is often described as the ‘jewel of the Aravis’, and for good reason.

Unlike the high-altitude, concrete-heavy resorts found elsewhere in the French Alps, this is a place of wooden chalets, local markets, and a genuinely welcoming atmosphere. However, don't let the traditional aesthetic fool you - the skiing is world-class.

The ski area is split across five interconnected mountain massifs: Beauregard, La Croix Fry-Manigod, L'Etale, L'Aiguille, and La Balme. Together, the immediate La Clusaz-Manigod circuit offers roughly 77.6 miles of groomed pistes. The terrain is incredibly varied; you can find yourself tucked away in pine forests one minute and standing on a rugged, limestone peak the next.

Because the resort is spread across these different peaks, choosing the right pass is vital. It dictates whether you stay within the local valley or head over the ridge to explore the wider region. Regardless of which you choose, you’re looking at an infrastructure of 49 lifts that whisk you from the village centre (at 1,040m) up to the craggy heights of nearly 2,500m.

Types of ski passes in La Clusaz

When it comes to ski passes, the most important decision you'll make is the geographic scope.

You essentially have two main choices: the local La Clusaz-Manigod pass or the regional Aravis pass. While the local pass is more than enough for many, those who like to mile-munch and explore neighbouring villages might find the upgrade to the Aravis circuit well worth the extra few Euros.

La Clusaz-Manigos Pass
This is the standard local pass and the most popular choice for visitors. It grants you full access to all five massifs mentioned earlier, covering 77.6 miles of runs. It is perfect for families and intermediate skiers who want to explore a diverse range of terrain without buses or long commutes. From the mellow, south-facing slopes of Beauregard (perfect for a morning coffee stop) to the legendary powder bowls of Balme, this pass ensures you won't run out of things to do in a week.

Aravis Pass
If you have ‘exploring’ at the top of your itinerary, the Aravis Pass is the way to go. This all-access ticket bumps your skiable terrain up to a massive 136.7 miles. In addition to the La Clusaz and Manigod areas, it includes the neighbouring resort of Le Grand-Bornand and the smaller area of Saint-Jean-de-Sixt. While these areas aren't physically linked by lifts, a free shuttle bus (the Skibus) runs regularly between them, making it easy to spend three days in La Clusaz and three days in Grand-Bornand to see everything the valley has to offer.
