With the nickname ‘the Skipalace’ Hotel Altapura in val thorens certainly stays true to its reputation. Situated at 2,300m in the highest ski resort in Europe, the hotel oozes style and quality. Spacious, elegant areas are successfully complimented by a Nordic Chic décor; natural materials such as wood and stone, alongside large French windows with stunning views, serve as a subtle reminder of the mountains on your doorstep. The atmosphere is somewhat cosmopolitan, the buzzing hotel boasts a range of facilities including three restaurants, an extensive 1000m² spa area and a range of in-room technologies.

Altapura ski accommodation is slightly set back from the centre of lively Val Thorens, however the slopes can be accessed directly from the hotel’s ski room, situated opposite the Plein Sud chairlift at the bottom of resort. For those keen to plan the next day’s adventures, the sun-drenched terrace offers the ideal spot and also boasts beautiful views of the Caron peak. Alternatively, the lounge bar enjoys a welcoming atmosphere complete with open fire, whilst children can relax and play in the children’s area. In addition, the hotel offers a range of three restaurants. Les Enfants Terribles is a mountain style brasserie whilst the La Laiterie serves a range of fondue (including Champagne or Truffle fondue) for an authentic Savoyard experience. The third restaurant, 2.Mille.3, offers an alternative take on the traditional, including hot dishes from the rotisserie, Asian woks and pasta dishes.

Guests benefit from complimentary access to the 1000m² Pure Altitude Spa, which includes an indoor/outdoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, ice fountain and Technogym. A range of beauty and massage treatments are available, and payable, locally including sport treatments.

The hotel’s style and quality is continued in the bedrooms. All rooms enjoy a welcoming ambience, including light wood furnishings, warm fabrics, large French windows and a range of new technologies. Rooms include iPod and iPhone docks and a Mac Mini TV with HD screen; this allows you to surf the web, watch television, listen to the radio or alternatively gain tips from a physical preparation coach in order to make the most of your days on the slopes! The mineral stone modern bathrooms include a spacious shower and bathtub.

Please note, for New Year bookings there is an option to upgrade the New Years dinner from the standard 2.Mile.3 resterant to Les Enfants Terribles. Please contact Erna Low for prices and further details.

"A fantastic hotel with friendly staff. Attention to detail. It is at 2300m though, so would say be aware of the possibility of altitude sickness"
