Skiing in Les Gets

Les Gets is a friendly and welcoming resort with charming chalet-style buildings and lovely spectacular views of Mont Blanc from the slopes.

This lovely village has a warm ambience and its small compact centre features a quaint cluster of bars and restaurants within walking distance from each other. Only a short bus trip away from the neighbouring Morzine, Les Gets is a quieter, traditional French Alpine village nestled idyllically in the Portes du Soleil ski area. Its proximity (50 kilometres) to Geneva International airport makes it an even more attractive ski holiday destination due to its short transfer time; making it convenient for short weekend getaways.

Les Gets is perfect for adults and children alike, especially families who would want to explore the Portes du Soleil while avoiding the party atmosphere of Avoriaz and Morzine. From gentle beginner runs to challenging off-piste terrain, the resort offers a diverse range of skiing experiences amidst stunning mountain scenery. The resort also doesn't lack quality accommodations; offering a range of options including chalets, hotels, and apartments, catering to various preferences and budgets.

Holiday makers will enjoy a fantastic skiing experience in Les Gets with most of its pistes around the village suitable for intermediates. Beginners and advanced skiers are catered to as well in the local ski area and with access to the vast Portes du Soleil ski area, visitors have a range of options to choose from. Les Gets also benefits from its calmer nature. With the lion share of holidaymakers in the Portes du Soleil visiting Avoriaz and Morzine, the overall atmosphere is calm, charming and far more family friendly. There are also fewer queues at the lifts and ticket machines and the slopes are relatively quieter; especially the slopes in Mont Chery on the opposite side of Les Gets.

Aptly named, L'Après Ski Bar, it literally says what it does “on the tin”; apres-ski! Conveniently located next to the tourist office at the resort, it is quite hard to miss. It has a lovely sunny terrace where you can enjoy some lovely sunshine and a drink as well as soak in the fun atmosphere. It's also a good place to kick start your apres-ski evening just coming off the slopes as it is also located at the foot of the slopes. Apart from the great music, the bar welcomes a live band twice a week. L'Après Ski Bar also has an amazing drinks menu with exotic cocktails and a very extensive wine list.

Bar Bush

Bar Bush is a popular spot in Les Gets and one of its oldest and longest-serving bars. Open every day from 4 pm, it is particularly popular with Brits and always have a lively and friendly atmosphere. It is a typical holiday Alpine bar, small in size but always pulls a great crowd. It has great music, a great selection of drinks and once a week it hosts a quiz night which is a pub favourite. It also has occasionally themed nights so look out for some fun evenings ahead.

Le Pub Irlandais ( The Irish Pub)

Le Pub Irlandais has been a mainstay at Les Gets for more than 20 years. It is an Irish themed pub and another favourite among Brits and holidaymakers from overseas. It is located only a mare stone's throw from the Chavannes lift, so it's quite easy to find. It is the ideal place for a pulled pint of ale as it has its own micro-brewery where it brews its own beers and cask ales! It is open every day from 2 pm, it has the traditional Irish pub atmosphere and makes for a very friendly evening of drinking and merry-making.

Bar Le Bowling ( Bowling Bar)

A little different from typical bars but just as much fun. At Bar Le Bowling, you can enjoy a few drinks and play bowling, darts and shoot a game of pool on any of the two tables. Great music and televised English and French football games.

The party people in the house have been waiting for this. Best place for some late-night dancing, l’Igloo is a traditional French Disco that has been going strong since the late 1930s.
