Ski Holidays in Megève

Megève is an authentic Alpine ski resort that forms part of the Evasion Mont Blanc ski area that it shares with Saint Gervais, Saint Nicolas, Les Contamines and Comboloux.

Megève is an ideal ski destination for winter holidaymakers looking for a relaxed, family atmosphere. It is a charming ski resort with a rich and well-documented history. Megève is also a popular family-friendly ski resort that offers excellent children's facilities and privileges; making it a top destination for a lot of families visiting with the little ones in tow. Officially opened as a ski holiday resort in 1916, Megève has since grown to be one of the ski areas' preferred destinations for affluent clients and winter sports enthusiasts. Its founder, Baroness Noémie de Rothschild, believed France should have its own St Moritz and proceeded to slowly transform the historical farming village into a luxury holiday attraction.

VIEW MAP

Megève also ranks among some of the most stylish ski resorts in the French Alps with smart-looking designer boutiques, posh, Michelin-starred restaurants and fashionable hotels lining its cobblestone streets. It also has an adoringly beautiful old village centre with a charismatic old town hall, old church and clock tower. The village centre is fully pedestrian and traffic-free, making it perfect for walking around freely. Much like St Moritz in Switzerland, as envisioned by Baroness Rothschild, the atmosphere in Megève is relaxed with an air of sophistication. It is the perfect resort for those who want to avoid the loud party atmosphere and crowded slopes but still enjoy a somewhat vibrant village scene.

Megeve offers a range of accommodations, from luxury hotels to budget apartments, ensuring comfort and convenience for visitors. It is perfect for all levels of skiers and snowboarding enthusiasts. With up to 450 kilometres of pistes ( on the Evasion Mont Blanc ski pass) spread across 4 mountains, there is something for everyone here. The village and the slopes get slightly busier on weekends as an influx of skiers visit the resort from Geneva as it is only a 75-minute transfer away. This also makes Megève a perfect short ski holiday weekend for skiers flying from other parts of Europe. Overall, Megève is an awesome ski resort to visit with family or as a romantic break getaway. Whilst slightly subdued in its overall atmosphere, there is a lot of entertainment and non-ski activities to get up to at the resort.
