Les Gets Ski Lessons
Les Gets is one of the crown jewels of the Portes du Soleil, a vast cross-border ski area with nearly 600km of interconnected slopes linking France and Switzerland.
Yet, despite being part of one of the largest ski domains in the world, Les Gets has retained its traditional Savoyard charm. Think wooden chalets, a proper village feel, and none of that high-rise, concrete sprawl you’ll find elsewhere. It’s a resort that feels authentic and welcoming - which is exactly why families and ski purists keep coming back.
That family focus isn’t just a vibe; it’s official. Les Gets carries the coveted “Famille Plus” label, a recognition reserved for resorts that go above and beyond for children. As a result, the ski schools here are exceptionally well-equipped for younger learners. Whether it’s introducing complete beginners to snow for the first time or building solid foundations for confident intermediates, instructors are experts at creating a safe, structured, and genuinely fun learning environment.
When it comes to choosing a ski school, you’ve got two main routes. The ESF - known for their iconic red jackets - is the largest provider, with extensive infrastructure including the famous Piou Piou children’s areas. Alternatively, independent and British-run schools such as Les Gets Snowsports (LGS), BASS, and New Generation offer smaller group sizes and often guarantee native English-speaking instructors. Most lessons take place on the Chavannes side of the mountain, where wide, gentle green and blue runs create the perfect natural classroom for building confidence before progressing to more adventurous terrain.
