Flaine Ski Area
The Flaine ski area is renowned for acquiring some of the best snow conditions in Europe. The resort’s north-west facing bowl creates wide open runs, with the freedom to experience the panoramic views of Mont Blanc by heading up to the ridge. The summit of the resort, Les Grandes Platieres is a great place to view the surrounding landscape. The resort was designed by skiers for skiers, so queuing for ski lifts is rarely a problem. Flaine was the first resort in France to install snow-cannons, and now has 100 snow-making facilities providing additional snow cover where needed.
The gentle nursery slopes at the foot of Flaine are perfect for beginners and children, and are serviced by free beginner lifts meaning you won’t need to purchase a lift pass until you find your ski feet. For intermediates, Flaine offers a range of more challenging pistes accompanied by an extensive lift system. Blue and red options make up the majority of the runs in Flaine, counting tree-lined trails, long motorway cruising and mogul fields. Advanced skiers can enjoy a number of demanding black runs including the Diamond Noir, Grandes Platieres, Lindars Nord and endless off-piste trails which should be treated with glacier-style caution (we strongly advise booking a guide if you are planning on heading off-piste, as there are several crevasses in the local area).
