Types of ski passes in Arc 2000
Arc 2000 ski passes come in three main categories: Classic, Essential, and Premium. Each is designed for a different kind of skier, so it's worth thinking about how you like to ski before committing to one.
The key decision is really about how much terrain you want access to. The local Les Arcs and Peisey-Vallandry area covers around 200km of runs - a very respectable amount by any measure, with everything from glacial cruisers to sheltered forest trails. If you want to extend that to the full Paradiski domain, you're looking at over 425km of skiing, which puts it among the top-tier ski areas in Europe.
It's also worth knowing that Arc 2000 offers dedicated Beginner passes for those just starting out, as well as Pedestrian passes for non-skiers who'd like to ride the lifts to enjoy the mountain scenery and join their group for lunch at altitude. No one needs to feel left out.
This is the pass to go for if you're happy staying within Les Arcs and have no particular urge to cross over to La Plagne. It offers a lovely mix of high-altitude open runs and more protected skiing lower down, suiting a wide range of abilities and preferences.
Alongside the expanded terrain, the Essential pass often comes with added perks, including priority lanes at key lifts such as the Transarc, as well as discounts on local activities - think the Mille 8 aquatic centre or the resort's popular zipline. So even on a rest day, you're still getting good value from your Arc 2000 ski pass.
During peak weeks, particularly half-term, Christmas, and New Year, lift queues can build up at busy pinch points. The Premium pass keeps you moving and minimises the time spent standing around. For those who view every queuing minute as a wasted skiing minute, this Arc 2000 ski pass pays for itself in peace of mind alone.
Pedestrian passes are available for non-skiers who'd like to take the lifts up the mountain - to meet family or friends for lunch at the top of the Varet or Aiguille Rouge, for instance, and take in the breathtaking panoramic views across the Alps.
