Méribel Ski Passes

Get it right, and you'll have exactly the skiing you want, at exactly the price that makes sense for your group.

Méribel sits at the heart of Les 3 Vallées, the world's largest linked ski area, and that central position makes the question of which ski pass to buy one of the most important decisions of your holiday.

The local Méribel Valley Pass covers 150km of pistes across the Méribel, Mottaret and Brides-les-Bains sectors - enough to keep most skiers thoroughly occupied for a week. Step up to the Les 3 Vallées Pass, and that figure leaps to 600km, connecting you seamlessly to Courchevel, Val Thorens, Les Menuires and beyond. For many intermediate and advanced skiers, the broader area is the whole point of coming to Méribel in the first place.

Whichever pass you choose, there are two practical reasons to sort it out before you travel. First, buying online in advance typically saves you money compared to purchasing at the lift station. Second, all passes use a hands-free system - the chip in your pass is read through your jacket pocket or ski bag, so there's no fumbling at the turnstile. It's a small thing, but when it's minus ten, and you're wearing ski gloves, you'll appreciate it.

Types of ski passes in Méribel

The two main passes are the Méribel Valley Pass, which keeps you within the local area, and the Les 3 Vallées Pass, which opens up the entire interconnected network. Beyond those, there are family passes, beginner options, and flexible season-long subscriptions, so there's something structured for almost every type of skier.

As a general guide, beginners and nervous intermediates tend to find the Méribel Valley Pass more than sufficient, particularly in the first few days of a trip when building confidence on familiar runs. Stronger intermediates and experts who want to ski a different resort each day will get far more value from the full 3 Vallées pass.

Duration is flexible. Passes are available from a 4-hour taster session right through to 14-day holiday passes and full-season options, so whether you're popping up for a long weekend or spending a month in resort, there's a pass structured for you.

The Méribel Valley Pass
The Méribel Valley Pass covers the slopes of Méribel, Mottaret and Brides-les-Bains - nearly 150km of skiing across all ability levels. For anyone spending their first week on skis, or for those who simply prefer to get to know one area really well rather than spreading themselves thinly across a vast network, this pass makes a lot of sense.

The terrain on offer is genuinely world-class. Highlights include access to Mont Vallon, one of the area's most impressive peaks at nearly 3,000m, with long, satisfying descents that reward any skier willing to put in the vertical metres. Brides-les-Bains at the bottom of the valley is a charming, quieter base and is included in the pass, making it a good option for anyone staying in the village.

The Les 3 Vallées Pass
The Les 3 Vallées Pass gives you access to all seven interconnected resorts within the area: Méribel, Courchevel (and its four altitude villages), Val Thorens, Les Menuires, Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, Orelle and La Tania. The 600km network is vast enough that even seasoned visitors rarely cover it all in a fortnight.

For intermediate and advanced skiers, this is the pass that makes full use of what the Alps have to offer. Val Thorens alone - Europe's highest ski resort - is worth the upgrade, with reliable snow and wide open cruising above 2,300m. Courchevel's varied terrain and Les Menuires' often-quieter pistes add further range.

The upgrade cost is often more modest than people expect. On a 6-day pass, the Les 3 Vallées version is typically around €10 per day more than the local Méribel pass, which, for most intermediate-plus skiers who plan to explore, represents excellent value.

The Family Flex Pass
The Family Flex Pass is designed for groups of three to eight, comprising one or two adults and six children or juniors. The key benefit is simple: adults pay the child rate, which can make a meaningful difference to the overall cost of a family ski holiday.

The pass is available for both the Méribel Valley area and the full Les 3 Vallées network and requires a minimum stay of 6 days. If you're travelling with children of varying ages and abilities, it's worth calculating whether the Family Flex is cheaper than buying individual passes - in most cases, it is.

The Mini Pass (Beginner Special)
The Mini Pass is aimed specifically at first-timers and costs approximately €38.50 per day. It grants access to a selected set of ‘Easy Rider’ lifts and the gentler green and blue runs in the Altiport and Mottaret sectors - the kind of wide, forgiving terrain that makes learning to ski considerably less daunting.

It's a budget-conscious way to get on the snow without paying for lifts and runs you're not yet ready for. As your confidence grows during the week, you can upgrade.

Liberty & Flex Season Passes
For those who visit Méribel regularly throughout the winter, or who ski in shorter, repeated bursts, there are several flexible season pass options worth knowing about.

The 3 Vallées Liberté pass operates on a pay-per-day subscription model, covering 8 to 21 days across the season. It suits frequent visitors who can't commit to exact dates in advance. The 2/7 Pass is structured for those who ski exactly two days per week - a good fit for people based in the resort for the season but not skiing every day. The Skiflex pass offers a full-season card with a limit of 10 lift rides per week, giving casual skiers access without the expense of an unrestricted pass.
